Pre-Orders: Get more Orders For Your Next Product Launch.

To generate interest in new products or sold-out products, Bareconnect has a pre-order feature which allows you to get people to register their interest in the product. This feature sends an email notification to customers when items become available again.

If you decide to sell products before they are in stock, either to anticipate inventory needs or to raise funds for production, follow these steps to inform customers that products won't ship immediately.

Adding a Product to Your Store The steps to add a product that will be offered as a pre-order are the same as adding any other product to your store. The main difference between regular products and pre-order products lies in the product description and the "Add to Cart" button.

Setting the Stock Level When adding a product to sell as a pre-order, set the stock level higher than zero so that products don’t appear to be out of stock. If you’re basing your stock level on customer interest, set it to a high number to capture as much interest as possible.

Including Pre-Order Details in the Product Description In the product description field, let customers know when the item will ship. You can also link to your store’s terms and policies for more information about order cancellations, shipping, and returns.

Changing the Add to Cart Button By default, product detail pages feature an "Add to Cart" button. You can edit the text to say "Pre-Order" instead. This is the best option if you’re ready to start accepting pre-order sales.

  1. In the product editor, navigate to Checkout, then click Custom Button.
  2. Toggle the switch beside "Enable custom label".
  3. Enter "Pre-Order".
  4. Click Apply.

Repeat these steps for every product that will be sold as a pre-order.

Enabling Product Waitlists Some shoppers may prefer to wait until the product is in stock before ordering. Enable product waitlists to notify interested shoppers when products become available.

Fulfilling Orders When the product is back in stock, fulfill the orders from the Orders panel.

Next Steps Now that you’ve set up a pre-order, consider these additional actions:

  • Create a blog to showcase the production process. This is a great way to keep customers informed and improve your SEO.
  • Keep customers updated on their order status by reaching out to them.
  • Promote pre-orders using a promotional pop-up or an announcement bar.
